چکیده

This article describes the development of a suitable Gel Permeation Chromatography method for cellulose nitrate plasticised with camphor (celluloid) found in cultural heritage. Current sample preparation and dissolution methods, apart from focusing on native, nonderivatised cellulose, require long times, often employ solvents that induce degradation. study aims to develop systematic uses least amount possible, is nondegrading, can be applied differently aged samples. investigated through identification solvent system statistically designed experiment testing critical variables affecting analysis, namely condition, sample, salt concentration (lithium chloride) N,N-dimethylacetamide. The use 0.1% was inadequate analysis because it did not fully dissolve any concentration, while 0.3% negatively impacted its high molecular weight distributions. 0.2% solution 0.5% lithium chloride N,N-dimethylacetamide offered most consistent repeatable data. miniaturised as much possible museum objects various ageing conditions.

Derivatization-free gel permeation chromatography elucidates enzymatic cellulose hydrolysis

UNLABELLED BACKGROUND The analysis of cellulose molecular weight distributions by gel permeation chromatography (GPC) is a powerful tool to obtain detailed information on enzymatic cellulose hydrolysis, supporting the development of economically viable biorefinery processes. Unfortunately, due to work and time consuming sample preparation, the measurement of cellulose molecular weight distri...

High Performance Gel Permeation Chromatography of Polymers

The determination of the molecular weight distribution by gel permeation chromatography requires the establishment of a molecular weight calibration and efficient columns in order to minimise chromatogram broadening. The separation process is described in terms of steric exclu— sion, retardation and partial exclusion mechanisms in order to show how the universal calibration method may be influe...

Arginine as an effective additive in gel permeation chromatography.

A major problem in gel permeation chromatography (GPC) or size exclusion chromatography is non-specific binding of applied proteins to the column matrix (stationary phase). We have tested an aqueous arginine solution as the GPC mobile phase on silica-based and polymer-based columns, using mouse monoclonal antibody and recombinant human activin, interleukin-6, basic fibroblast growth factor, and...

Development of a new method based on chiral ligand-exchange chromatography for the enantioseparation of propranolol

A new chromatographic procedure was proposed for the separation of propranolol (PRN) enantiomers based upon enantioselective chiral ligand-exchange chromatography. The separation was carried out on a short C8 column leading to considerably short separation time. L-alanine and Cu2+ were applied as chiral selector and central bivalent complexing ion, respectively. It was found that the kind of co...
